I have read here the multiple posts from the landlord concerned about tenant setting thermostat to the extreme causing excessive HVAC wear and tear. 

@Alex ReinsmaI use a ring door bell, Schlage encode for door codes (I can set a new code each guests, cleaners, handyman, etc), Wi-Fi thermostat, etc.  

They are plagued with issues.Same with nest thermostats.

., Amazon thermostat, ring door bell, Amazon speakers on the ceiling, Amazon smart bulbs, etc). 

It includes an allowance for appliances and all finishes which include bamboo and tile flooring, solid wood kitchen cabinets, black or basic stainless appliances, WiFi thermostats, closed circuit camera security, granite counters in kitchens.  

Mine can set door codes, message (or call) guests, schedule cleaners, adjust the thermostat, monitor my cameras, & call a plumber just as easily as a local PM can, for 1% of the costI wrote much more about leveraging offshore assistants in this post here.

For example we use a Emerson Sensi WiFi thermostat, a Schlage Smart Connect Z Wave lock and a few of the iHome indoor sensors.I chose the Sensi due to the fact we have no C wire.

If you have smart speakers, TVs, thermostat, etc. that you want guests to be able to access, it probably won't work because of compatibility issues.

Yes, check all fire safety equipment, shut off water, lower thermostat (depending on your location, here in NC we would set air to 85 in the Summer and heat to 50 in the Winter during vacancy period).
