Great idea, it's always good to have a place to fellowship with people who think like you. 

I am active duty Air Force and am doing a fellowship at Johns Hopkins SAIS this year and working in legislative affairs for the DOD next.

Appraised for $250K on my cash-out refi, rented it out for $2600 to a guy finishing his fellowship at the a hospital close by, great tenant. 

When I filled out an application for a graduate fellowship in my senior year, I answered the "tell us about yourself" box with "I took 9 semesters of academics in 8 semesters of time" (I got the fellowship).

Salaries are crazy high too - take a scroll through the grey book sometime and look at the high-five through mid-six figure salaries (if they're faculty that's a 9 month salary - they get more for summers, research, publications, fellowships, and more).
