Rafters are just wood that the builders cut on sight, they involve a ridge beam (think back bone) and the individual rafters (think ribs).  

That's not to say that these aren't wonderful people or that they aren't the backbone of the American economy.

Lets' talk about the backbone of capitalism, imo.

Absulutely agree with you, Charles, on what we have to do to get things rolling again...small business is the backbone of this country...Banks are businesses, just like any other.
