I am weighing them over just converting an old shed in my back yard to a in law dwelling.  

However, little likelihood that the window would have taken 5 years to crack due to a miss-installation.Possibly to a gross change in the structure of the house due to a heave in the foundation, usually there would be further evidence of such an event than just the window.Contact the window company, let them shed some light on it, you never know.

I would like to give them a form to use when they find a property which will include:-property address-approx. sq footage/number of stories-additional buildings on property (sheds, garages, etc)- Condition of other homes in neighborhood-pics of front and back (if possible)-pics of houses on left/rightAnd that where I get stuck!
