@Jonathan B.On a reverse mortgage no, but if it’s going to foreclosure then it’s typically because it’s upside down / under water or there is no heirs.You could call the attorney and ask if they will let you know what the opening bid or payoff is on the property or do a case search on the county website and see the complaint as that will typically tell you the amount.

But I am open to it if I can use the security deposit to replace the carpet (not sure to what extent it is legal).I was thinking of getting landlord rental protection from Zillow to cover pet costs but my premium will probably shoot up since the place is carpeted.Would love your thoughts on this dilemma!

Financially, the numbers make sense, but I need to have a proper inspection since this is my first home (and I'm going unrepresented) and the house is built in 1915 with some renovations that were clearly done by the investor selling the property rather than a professional.Question: Although  previous owner has owned the property for 3 years and rented to tenants previously, should I be concerned that the legal zoning is only for SFH?
