Originally, I was looking to do only LTR (I have 24 units) and have now decided to join forces with two incredible women who are looking to start at STR property management business in our vacation tourism hotspot of a town.

I try to avoid tourism but market my STRs towards infrastructure spending.

I just bought a unit that is inside a building designated as "A HOTEL CONDOMINIUM".I was told that I need to get all of the following in order to use it as a STR:- Florida department of revenue - sales and use tax certificate- DBPR dwelling license- Broward county tourism tax collection registration- Broward county business tax receipt accountWith these four in hand I should be able to apply for both the "City Vacation Rental" license and the "City Business Tax".So, all in all, six different applications / licenses.My question is this - do I really need all of these or can I omit some of them because the unit is in a "hotel condominium", which, in my mind, should be eligible for short term rentals by definition.Thank you.

All these towns rely solely on tourism (and therefore rely on vacation rentals) and still they are cracking down.

Hi, Fellow STR OperatorsI have a question about collecting/remitting sales/tourism taxes for short term rentals.

There is zero tourism in my town.

@Shannon ParkI’m a broker along the Alabama/Florida Gulf Coast and I can tell you that our tourism is booming and our price point is still a lower barrier than many other tourism destination spots.

Previously cities like Scottsdale imposed a 30-day minimum stay to protect their largest industry...tourism and resorts.
