I've listened to all of the BP podcasts, and it seems like most of what they discuss is not applicable to the Bay Area, especially areas like Silicon Valley and San Francisco.

We bought and held properties for decades in Silicon Valley, California.

I've also been approached by serious silicon valley start-ups trying to make private placement investments easier to trade, which, of course, involves the very difficult issue of valuation.There are many things happening, but I am not a believer yet. 

However, speculating on appreciation could yield much bigger returns and in a shorter time frame.For the San Francisco Bay Area (including the Silicon Valley), prices are continually going up even though many cash flow investors think that it can't go any higher.  

I'm a full time computer nerd and work in Silicon Valley.

Reno is 45 min to Lake Tahoe and 10 or more ski resorts including, squaw valley, heavenly ski resort.We are within an hours drive to over 100 mountain lakes.3 hrs to mammoth mnt ,Yosemite, SF, and Silicon Valley.

I have to give a big shout-out to  @Johnson H. for first introducing me to BP, and a lot of investors down in Silicon Valley and San Jose.

What really drives the price in bay area/silicon valley is the new immigrant young family coming to bay that work in South bay and looking for a great school.
