Aly NAHaha yeah that's what I used to say until I got a call at 1 AM telling me a tenant in Iowa busted the water pipe and it flooded there basement.

The house was winterized back in Nov 2013, so the water was turned off and the water meter was removed to ensure the pipes wouldn't freeze (here in Michigan).

Had a local plumber hire a registered sex offender and he went in to a woman's house to work on pipes, nothing happened, but when she saw his face on a poster that was handed out later her husband and nearly everyone else quit using that plumber for fear of safety for their wives.

I've always cut the heat off too but with an upcoming vacancy and the 8 degree weather we're having, I've considered keeping the thermostat set to a temp just to make sure the pipes don't freeze.

This means if you can only afford a 60k property and are expecting 800 rent for it and a 3 bed 2 bath in the area you want and only 2 such properties have transacted on the MLS in a year then it's a pipe dream.
