Before the layoff and the cancer, I had 18 yrs of corporate experience.  

Plus, if something really bad were to happen (massive lay offs in Bay Area) I could just move into one of them.Plus in the east bay you can always find places to rent for far cheaper than a mortgage would be (unless you're putting significant amounts down).

I'm not seeing much development and with downsizing and layoffs there is more commercial space than ever before.

First of all it ability to become more financially independent, to have some other source of income and not to worry about job loss, lay offs and so on.

I have about another 10k in investments , 5.5k in my Roth IRA , and 3.5k in my Robinhood account as well as 1k in crypto currency

I also have about 20k in a robinhood account. which is making higher gains but still nothing to shake a stick at.

Nationally, we will experience minimal growth, over-leveraged, spending drops significantly, layoffs happen, and the economic engine comes to a halt (almost).2025 - ?

I try to be strategic about my purchases there, first drilling down for cashflow and then taking a step back to see if I can put myself "in the path of potential future appreciation" as I like to say.It's worked phenomenally well for me and I'll continue investing in Detroit until the masses are beating the drum on the city.How do all the Rocket layoffs affect Detroit and the revitalization of the city. 

--for example, I don't believe the Round Rock rental market has yet recovered from Dell's layoffs over the last few years and rents are highly competitive especially for houses built 8-10 years ago.
