If heavy cast you are probably fine, if standard thickness it's probably rotting out from the inside and will need to be replaced sooner rather than later. 

Use a good/thick MEMBRANE material. 

It comes in 4' X 8' sheets and is 1/2 inch thick and is cardboard in color and it is fairly light weight. 

I have thick skin so no worries.
