Full steam ahead!

@Nina Davenport Hi,Judging just by my duplex (built originally as a duplex with a two pipe steam system), it can be a mess to switch from one boiler to two separate heating systems.

So you have Steam heat in the house, with the old radiators ?

Mike,My goal in posting this here is so that BP members can help me look at it in a way I wouldn't, if people give me reasons not to buy then it is just that an iffy deal but if i find a deal and people on BP can't think of why I shouldn't pull the trigger, then that's the deal I am going to go full steam on.Thank you for your feedback,Rob

@Nnabuenyi Anigbogu some people will say slow down, but I'm like you in that I just want to go full-steam ahead.

Home had steam heat and the boiler had not been properly drained and was toast.

Upstairs use of carpet can be fine as it gets less abuse and usually you can just steam clean it a few times before a redo.

That area seems to be gaining lots of steam.. lots of fixed up homes and I'd like to get in on some of that appreciation... so please someone just tell me the smart thing to do is rent it out!

I could tell that the carpets had been steam cleaned recently.

North Avondale, which backs up to St Bernard, is starting to pick up some steam so it's possible some of that will overflow into St Bernard.
