Once your new dryer is set up and working, then I would disconnect the gas. 

As far as utilities go, call the provider and they should be able to tell you when the service was disconnected or if it is active. 

All numbers listed on the lease are either disconnected or they automatically forward to the County which has led me to four different people who said they do not even know of the tenant or they leave messages for others who never follow up.
