Generally with decor, less is more and you want just enough furniture, items on shelves/walls to make it feel livable and not stark, but clutter detracts from the house overall.

Some refinery contractors tastefully put an oil well pump jack head in the fireplace as a decoration. 

Has anyone worked with the DEC or CWC in NY and has any feedback to share? 

She shopped for end tables, nightstands, and decor for walls and mantle, and made everything guest-ready. 

However I still like to have it painted and decorated for just me.

What about the comforter and even the decorative throw pillows?  

If the house only has 1 type of light fixtures than it would be considered as base/required and cannot be depreciated over 5 years and instead it would be 27.5 year asset.Only Decorative light fixtures qualify for accelerated depreciation over 5 years.
