So, no matter what, don't give up, keep your dreams alive and the things you have always wanted will manifest themselves.   

The upkeep of the maintenance expense will obviously be higher with a pool, but I see it being worth it!

I think I’ll keep this as a regular single family and work on another.

For regular financing it wouldn’t work but with a renovation loan it could since its assumed you’re not living there in the meantime and its going to be under construction.

Regular concrete blocks are structural, shear strength but not insulative.
