Not going to get political here but I will make note several high ranking current and previous politicians own beachfront property.

Enact super anti-landlord policies and you get: Seattle Sheds 9,759 More Rental Units, adds Only 27 Unit (May 2021-Jan 2022)Rental stock will continue to decline and cause rents to increase and there needs to boogeyman so the communist politicians don't get blamed. 

And they will get mad at the "greedy" landlords, not the politicians who have failed in their duty to address the issue.
