I have similar concerns for Utila, while I love the island, I don't place a lot of trust in the Honduran government, and taxes are really high (off the top of my head, I think they're 18%).

I would start with some local meetups, and/or some of the conferences that happen each year.Meetups: head to meetup.com and search "real estate investing" for your market.

They are both growing rapidly and expanding their tourism segments.
