@Sherin SunnyAs long as they are smaller Multi-Fam you should be fine with a umbrella policy from your insurance provider.

If your primary motivation for creating an LLC is asset protection, then maybe an umbrella insurance policy is all you need (especially if, at least for the time being, you only own one or two rental properties).

I use landlord insurance (typically covers about $300K-$500K in liability) along with an umbrella policy which provides an additional $2M-$5M in coverage (depending on your asset base/what you need).

Just keep all in your name, have a $1,000,000 liability on each one in your regular insurance policy, then add a couple million in umbrella coverage over them all.
