I know quite a few lenders in the Triangle - as well as other non-locals that are licensed to lend in NC - but without knowing what you're looking for, there's a good chance I could recommend someone that's unable to provide the type of loan you need...

Best bet would be Stafford & Dale City, Triangle, Dumfries, Manassas & Manassas Park.

Thursday night at NC State there is a Triangle Real Estate Investor Association meeting.

Sometimes you will find "isolated ground" receptacles (either all orange, or with an orange triangle on the outlet face) or "hospital grade" receptacles (with a green dot on the outlet face) for vast amounts of money. 

Hi Ben,You can’t go wrong with either the Raleigh/Triangle area or Wilmington. it depends on what you are looking for… a larger city within driving distance of the beach (and mountains) or a beach town.

Locations outside of the Triangle are also good market areas right now.
