If / when I start using an online property management application I will probably use any functionality that they provide to keep everything in one place.  

This is an opportunity for you to help your parents and your parents are functional people who maintain their own residence now.

I'll start combing Youtube as well @Rich Baer, which works especially well for me because I am a very visual learner! 

Use the search function on the top right side.

I would also add, it's possible you could end up repainting with Kilz which will "seal in" the cause of the smell functionally eliminating it. 

I am a "visual learner" so anything helps and I am sure it will benefit other viewers!

In an effort to make our site even better, we're looking at our search function.

Mostly we need a disposal changed out in the kitchen, heater that is not functional and needs looked at, several outlets need changed out to GFCI and other outlets with open grounds on the 3rd prong need changed out.
