Additionally houses like to be lived in, especially during the winter and mostly due to the possibility of frozen pipes.I'd say just make sure that you thoroughly weigh the pros and cons of each.

Unless the piping was blown out with compressed air, there’s a possibility of water pockets that could have frozen and split the pipes.

using a mechanical lock box works great for vendors, but I would never give a code, even a 1 time code with an electronic box or lock, you would be trusting the viewer of the property to turn off lights and actually close the door, I think you are taking a lot of risk this way, I had a vendor that left a door open, fortunately i got there before all the pipes froze, some PEX was frozen when I got there, Just be careful, I would Highly recommend paying a manager, they are worth their fee without question.  

It beats having frozen pipes!

Also, the chance of your HELOC ibeing frozen is low if your still within your time horizon [e.g., 5 - 10 years].  

If a pipe does freeze, it's best to get to it right away (before it bursts) and wrap hot wet cloths around the frozen area, to get the water to start moving.  

My BP account was frozen for some reason again. 

I haven't been up there in a few years but it was always a good time except when it hit about 20 degrees and I was frozen to the bone.
