For example if my wife has a self directed 401k could she loan money to say my mother?

My mother in law owns a house with no equity in another area not far from us.Here is my current situation.  

Lots of factors here, some manageable some not so ideal however the numbers seem to work every way I run themI was contacted by the son of a deceased mother who after her death, found out she owned several properties. 

Situation: Mother passed in '07 and no one knows who is on title and who has rights to her property.  

The fact that she is a single mother should have no bearing on your decision to rent.

The concept has been around longer than I've been alive, but due to the advancement in technology mixed with a little HGTV, mixed with a some 'Buy real estate with no money' seminars, everyone and their mother-in law now wants to be in real estate.

The mothers bedroom with in suite master bath was fine.

I find it difficult also, since my schedule as a RN and being a single mother doesn't allow for me to drive around looking at properties with agents.

(My mother-in-law is borderline hoarder so...I see this in my future as well).
