An agent if they are a Realtor, and thus subject to the NAR settlement, can not receive more money than is detailed in the buyer agency agreement.

If the title company is trying to put Buyer side items onto Seller side statement in this transaction, I would ask them why.As noted, things can change in a year, i.e. the whole buyer side commission thing with NAR, but in my state (Ohio), the customary fees typically don't change.

This is ingrained in us because the NAR Code of Ethics prohibits us from soliciting business from another realtor's clients, but there's also a certain protocol and level of professional courtesy involved, and listing agents expect to hear from the buyer's agent if the buyer is represented.I've also had instances where a seller inadvertently sent documents directly to the other agent before I reviewed them, and it ended up costing them time and money.

So being that you seem set on going to college here's my advice,3 big thingswhile in college you can only do so muchwork part-time or intern with real estate agencies, property management companies, or real estate investors, which some colleges per degree may require an internship anyway.networkjoin campus real estate clubs and national organizations like the National Association of Realtors (NAR) or local real estate investment groups.

While we are at it: I also ask to remove anything about the 6% broker fee if selling to the tenant in the future, no matter how unlikely it may seem or what NAR lawsuits may bring in the future - if you don’t agree with something, ask to change/remove it, in good faith, before entering into the business relationship.

Aggressive marketingWe currently have a fairly aggressive marketing strategy but there is always room for improvement.With the current NAR settlement, we will no longer be able to market commissions to agents on the MLS.
