This wiring can be identified most often with a black woven cloth insulated sheathing and is run and secured using modern methods of staples and freely passing through the framing in drilled holes (no tube insulators).The major problem with this wiring was that this woven sheathing deteriorated really fast and the wire was often more brittle than its predecessor.

It's nice to hear the other side of this.I agree that it shouldn't be freely given out, but maybe it's not avoidable if you're house hacking a SFH as a self-managing landlord?
