As noted, commission are always negotiable as are brokerage options (full service to discount companies that pretty much just post it on the MLS and you work with all calls, offers, etc) and an agent can go over likely net out scenarios with you and give you an idea what you likely will be able to net after closing expenses and paying off the mortgage balance. 

If you are not rolling over to a custodian, but just changing the plan administrator and recordkeeper, you should be able to retain the titling of the investments, which may simplify the process. 3) You should be able to retain the current bank account for the Solo 401(k), but may need to switch to a banking partner that is more compatibly with the Solo 401(k) platform you use. 4) If you have a self-directed brokerage account tied to the Solo 401(k), you may need to make some adjustments there.

Why not just get a real estate license, and get E&O insurance through a brokerage?

Most brokerages do not require you to be a full time Realtor in order for you to hang your license with them.

So I shouldn't call mortgage brokerages, I should call mortgage companies?
