That said, the assessor probably has at least a diagram of the home that they used to calculate the square footage and that would tell you the footprint of the house they have in their records. 

In this case, other condos in my complex with the exact same floor plan & square footage but in much less desirable condition and without views (I have an amazing view) are selling for 15% more than my appraisal.

My tax person says I can deduct a % of the repairs I've done based on the SQ Footage of the basement unit.

Now my question is I don't want to end up paying property taxes for the Sq footage that doesn't exist.

To support some of the challenges some residents may have that feel they conserve while others don't, you can also take the # of occupants and the square footage and come out w/a higher ratio for larger units w/more people.  

3) Aside from washing the walls or getting a full repaint quoted, would it be reasonable to deduct the expected cost of "Kilz" paint/odor sealant brand for effected square footage?

Just to explain the reason for my pointing out the updates; just a month ago it was cosmetically pretty ugly and I’ve added some square footage to the home. 

No footage of tenant coming in and paying rent on the day she claimed she paid.
