In order to bring people  (who were all some form of Pagan at the time)  into the Church the early Catholics used a lot of incorporating:  re-working old Pagan traditions into something "Catholic" (which means 'universal' in the original Greek)  to entice people to convert more readily.Although in the case of the Pagan sacred number 13 the tactic was to discredit it instead:  13 became spoken of as "unlucky" and associated with death and bad things in general.It is no accident that Christian holidays all occur on the dates or previous Pagan holidays:  Christmas in on the Winter Soltice, Easter at the Spring Equinox.  

DB packaged a lot of this mortgage paper here in the US, BTW, approving people who would clearly never be able to pay - like the "Greeks"

And so on with the rest of the home.We do these a lot in the Bay Area where local politics make it nearly impossible to build, so our housing stock is mostly ancient.

Hey,Just checking out this forum after reading a couple Bigger Pocket's books, the ancient "Real Estate Loop Holes" and more recent "Investing in Real Estate with no (or low) Money Down".  

All units need some improvements: flooring (very dirty carpets), kitchen (ancient cabinets, ugly and cheap countertop),… We plan to have people in two units move out and then renovate.

I still have to find some asbestos removal folks to clear out the ancient heating system ( I think it's that "octopus" style heater).Today, I just got DTE to get electricity on, and will have internet set up Monday.  

My computer is only 1 year old and I 5 processor with Lenovo so can handle any recording stuff.You can get lost in the software stuff and it's all Greek to me.

@Steffany Kluttz   Were you able to make it to Greek fest this last weekend?   

Also, watching the webinars I understand that 90% of deals are not deals.Most of the properties I have seen are ancient, built around 1900.
