Even though carpets are professionally steam cleaned between tenants it is not unusual for someone who does not have a pet to walk in and comment about a pet odor (and this does not have to be from animal "accidents"; but simply from a pet living in the area.)Ironically I do animal rescue myself (cats and dogs) so no carpet in my house!

The upper tenant, being evicted, was running a dog rescue out of the apartment and not paying rent (5 caged pits and some little thing running around), the lower, who had a husky, bought another husky and they in turn had a litter of 3, and then just a lab in the back unit.

A landlord may very likely ask the question of any potential tenant with any large breed of dog that may, from news reports, be untrustworthy (and I write this as a previous owner of a Boxer, a Dogo and a current Pit mix, all rescues as well as previous rescued retired greyhounds).Perhaps the OP might have some of his concerns answered if he could meet the dog prior to continuing with the application.

Anything before that and as others above mentioned.. just not motivated enough to spend all the time and energy on someone who is certain that their uncle ralph is going to come to the rescue.. they have to really understand that they are going to lose it on Friday and your door knocking on Monday... its a mad scramble but that's what set us apart.
