I wait at a restaurant and I bring in about 2k a month from my paychecks and tips combined.

My 4 unit is in a neighborhood where rents are exploding, close to shopping, restaurants, and a job corridor.  

There is one that a local builder just finished here and it sold the first day one market.I'm really interested in combining green efficient housing with the storage unit concept and integrating some sort of home garden with the design, similar to how restaurants are growing their own greens.

:) So back in 2010 my wife and I had saved up some money and I was looking to invest in some income generating assets or businesses, I considered investing in franchise restaurants (very briefly).

I am a server at a restaurant and haven't really read a lot about people starting out investing on this type of income.

Neat things to do, restaurants, bars, any info would be appreciated.

Direct train service to NYC (50 min train ride), lots of restaurants, very walkable downtown, MAYO performing arts center with some good acts cycling through, and lots of bars/ nightlife which appeals to younger crowd a make it a hot rental market.
