Unless your agent is affiliated with a small Firm or works in the same local office as the listing agent, the odds of them knowing each other and having already shared info about either party with each other are pretty slim.

Putting five unrelated occupants in one home means five cars parked outside, five different group friends visiting the home, increased likelihood of noise or parties, and other problems.Personally, I have pretty strict requirements when three or more unrelated people are renting together because of the potential problems.

@Rob BlockVerifications should be done by the sponsor - they hire a third party. 99.9% chance none have done it because in the past they have not had too.
