I had to find something that would distract my mind from work and then after this distraction immediately talk with people about it and get opinions (For me it was either a competitive game with friends, whether basketball or cards).

I started my response this morning and got distracted by a football game. 

For me, this is what I refer to as a "shinny object of distraction". 

If no problem to create the catalyst, then you are just as much a distraction to them as you are to the attorney.
