I always got the impression that he had a bad criminal record or never got his high school diploma/ GED equivalent or some other issue was preventing him from getting a license, because he was basically just brokering without a license but calling it consulting (I don't know any of that to be true for the record, that was just the impression that I got from his comments and might explain why he used a fake name?). 

Now with Covid we do not even travel to the U.S. so will use Facetime to see the progress I also get reports on our internal system for all my our  contruction activities.

When the syndication is sold in future years, are the gains, depreciation recapture, and distributions also taxed as active income?

If there is an active loan or lease, I've heard it has become a nightmare for listings.

While I've been able to get out of my W2 after acquiring 30 properties, I've learned that you still need to generate some sort of active income unless most of your doors are completely debt free.

(Or a lot if you're dealing with a scam turnkey company, of which, unfortunately, there are a decent number.)BRRRR is much more active, you buy a fixer as you note, oversee the rehab yourself and then either manage yourself or find a manager for. 

If passive investing appeals to you, real estate syndications or REITs diversify exposure without active management.Best regards, Stevan

SFD vs condo vs 2-4 unit, hold vs flip, turnkey vs rehab, passive vs active...it really comes down to each individual property/opportunity, what your goals with the property are, and if the numbers make sense or not.Best of luck!
