I lived in a house where a lady smoked 3 packs a day for 40 years.

I knew that newly formed syndications and DSTs were not attractive at market highs, so I didn’t invest.

I was initially told there was an HOA but eventually found out it's not active and there's a lady who lives somewhere on the street that pays a lawn company to cut and trim everyone's yard. 

But it becomes a much less attractive investment to an outsider when you know you could be facing future special assessments like that.
