Front Royal, Luray, Massanutten, etc. 

Places like South Lyon, Livonia, Berkeley, Royal Oak, Livonia, Brighton, Novi.

Parts of Royal Oak are class B to me.

It is, as you might imagine, a royal pain.

I’d probably stay away from short term rentals (fwiw you really can’t do them anywhere in the dmv with execption of Alexandria unless it’s owner occupied) I’d probably use like 100k of that as a down payment on a property somewhere in the vicinity of dc, say front Royal or the eastern shore (I have a rental there) but the rest in an index fund and bonds and diversified putting all your money in a str in area you don’t know is pretty risky.

It looked like a bedroom for small children as it was decorated very princess-y (again, the listed minor occupants ages were 14, 12 and 9).  

Royal Hawaiin air flew in there in Cessna 414s and in those days a passenger could hop up and fly right seat.. ( don't touch anything ) so I did that many times.. and as a bonus you might stop at Kalapaupa Leper colony to drop something off or pick someone up going to HNL. 

Some areas on the west side can be a little more rough, such as Pleasant Hill, Westmount, and Mount Royal.

I come from a tech background (CS/BA in college with an accounting focus; long time nerd), and I still royally screwed up the QB setup when I did it myself.

Maybe in 20 years or so I could see the Metro stretching out to Winchester or at least Front Royal (along 66) but thats a long ways out.
