My goal here was to hopefully get in contact with another and a good contractor can usually see subtle signs of a poor foundation, poor plumbing, electrical, etc.

But, I'm here and will probably stay.However, I'd not move someplace because of the RE market, there's an RE market where ever you go, just need to learn how to profit in it.I'd be more interested in weather, political flavor, medical facilities, schools, the arts, activities, cost of living and economic stability, if those are all good, you probably have a good RE market. :)

I had let a tenant out of a lease once because I felt given the circumstances it was the right thing to do ( completely different circumstance however just lIke you I do my best to do whats rIght) but when I did let her out of her lease I made sure to tell her that I was completely within my legal right to enforce the lease as it is written and that I was choosing to allow her out of her lease ... it might seem very subtle but that subtle difference allows you to keep your stance as the one in charge of the situation.... she wasnt In a posItIon to ask for anything else or make any demands because I was already doing her a HUGE favor... it sounds like In your case she might have purposely misinterpreted your empathy and decided she would just see what else she could get outta you...
