FYI the comment was posted before you resolved the issue, I just made an update.

At the end of that period, the owner must pay off the existing loan and get another loan to pay off that old loan.

Does anyone know a lawyer there that is familiar with hard money loans and could update the paperwork ?

The tenant-buyer has time to fix their credit and save more money for a down payment during the option period, then exercises their option - fulfilling their desire for home ownership.

Updated kitchen but I’ll need to do floors and update bathrooms.

Would love an update if you have good resources or recommendations for folks in a similar boat to you!

@Jonathan Greene and @Mike Grudzien I agree but I was hoping to hear from some certified appraisers and if they would comp leased land versus owned land in an appraisal.Jonathan, you are guaranteed the land through the current lease period, but not guaranteed of a renewal.
