Before you buy a property, you should do a LOT of homework to verify you can find a decent property manager in that market.

Right now, we have no marketplace for, and no way of verifying the license and background of the individuals who claim to be contractors on our site. 

This was not the case so I wrote back and I am now being told that I need to verify the ownership.

The NC Secretary of State has what they call an eNotary, but "the process maintains the traditional safeguards of requiring the eNotary and the signer to be in the same physical location and for the identity of the signer to be verified by the eNotary." 

I verified the check with his bank before depositing it.

Secondly, transferring property doesn’t erase prior deed and mortgage records so your identity is not cloaked in secrecy.

Some bills for utilities were verified but others have no accompanying receipts / invoices and even double charged. 

Have you checked zoning to verify this type of facility is allowed?
