I wanted them to be on the same page as me as to why we decided to change it out and why they should start a gas service, and Also that they should not be surprised if they find their first electric bill to be a bit high. 

Why in God's name did they not tell us up front?

I was reading up about it, and saw that the cons of oil heating include needing to top up the oil supply, lower efficiency (than gas and electric), and potential leaking of tanks leading to environmental issues.Is anyone familiar with oil heated homes?
