Especially if you have a local handyman you can trust to take care of the property.

I would be self managing the property because I know the area well, have local connections to help out if in a pickle, and could get there in a day drive if need be. 

And the best way to start networking is here on BP and attending your local REIA meetings IMO.

In my experience, a property with multiple cottages and outbuildings can provide all kinds of creative strategies...some folks try short-term rentals or even specialized retreats if local regulations allow.

Local banks typically offer lower interest rates but might require a solid track record and detailed financials.

Hi Brian, not sure how close you are to NH but there’s a couple local meetups that happen every month in The NH seacoast area just across the Maine border if that is something that interest you. 

I am new and I am checking in to see who is local to Albuquerque or in New Mexico and wants to meet up for coffee to talk about investing and goals!

Having watched many prior co-workers get paid, cash their check at the casino, and promptly deposit it all into a slot machine I can tell you with pretty good certainty that casinos don't have a positive effect on disposable income and good use of the existing income in the area surrounding :)Are there solid local employers OTHER than the casino in a 15-minute drive?
