If it's the front door, it is solid wood and normally you can "plane" it and remove enough wood to allow the door to close properly.

You need to get on a plane and see whats up , or have someone you trust to do a visual inspection . 

Should I book a plane ticket and look at the properties on the same day that I get a property inspection?

This would allow you to look at properties in person without a plane flight.
