So far I have had the most traction talking with various mortgage brokers in the area we're moving to as they know what will fly and what won't.

For anyone who is reading this, if you have vacant property, make sure you or someone you trust is keeping close tabs on its condition as well as have the proper alerting devices installed to alert you in the case of an emergency.
