When you get to the point where you have enough assets to warrant stronger protection, you can hire a good estate and tax attorney who can help you REALLY protect them from all directions.

I would replace the counter top for personal reasons but again it will not increase rent.I would defiantly put in a closet and there by add a third bedroom, I do not understand the purpose of the sky light and would not touch it.Adding a third bed room is the only improvement that will warrant higher rents and is relatively inexpensive.

@Sarah Ezcurra Welcome to BP.With condo's you will have to be careful about non-warrantable condo or condo-tel.

The property is a few minutes from my office, a few minutes from my house, and is actually nice enough to possibly warrant living in the house in the future.
