DON"T buy a :protest: property unless you can DEAL with a couple of exit stratigies-- one being hold and rent..

Building, developing, entitling, rezoning, subdividing, brokering, syndicating, property management, asset management, running an investment fund, loan origination, sale leaseback, build to suit, tenant mix restructuring, land conglomeration, property tax appraisal protesting, land use studies, real estate marketing studies, expert witness testimony, writing syndication, radio show, property appraisal, property inspection, etc.

We haven't been so lucky, or need to find a new firm to protest for us. 

I mean, they exist, they are clearly posted ahead of time, you're able to protest if you feel its too high.

@Leslie Brown  - we are allowed to protest the property taxes in TX as well (I think we are 2nd highest nationally behind NJ in property taxes). 

I am confused.The main protests he raises are things like (paraphrased):"The seller advertised 700/mo on the MLS, so if it turns out he misrepresented, that would be a breach of contract."

almost sounded like a protest statement between that business and the city (I don't blame them).So fellow GR landlords;  who knows a good plumbing/heating contractor that is registered with the city to do these inspections and file paperwork along with getting a new hot water heater and chimney liner / venting work done?  

I purchased the home for 327,000, so I can't exactly protest on the previous appraisal. 

Reasons can include:-Property is a homestead and has a cap on value- Owner protested and got the value reduced -Owner never pays attention and the value is way high-District doesn’t appraise yearly
