I know i had loans on a few :(   My Brother in law bought a home  in Las Altos Hill in 90 that had sold in 87 peak for 2.5 mil and he picked it up for 1.3 still lives there today probably worth 6 to 8 mil today.. so real estate does bounce back in some markets but this was a sub market in prime Silicon Valley SF peninsula.. 

I was a LL south of San Francisco for many years while living in Silicon Valley.

My expenses were anyways more than the rental incomes (credit goes to cash flow negative silicon valley property) without considering depreciation.

There is a lot of controversy around Airbnb these days but despite how you feel about the service, there’s no denying the massive impact it has made on the travel industry.It is, no doubt, very far from its humble beginnings as a simple room, couch, and apartment share, but that growth is as much due to the hunger for different accommodations as it is to a well-executed silicon valley start-up.The Airbnb host can make all the difference in a stay.

As for the latter, darn my nerdy math buddies are now running hot Silicon Valley companies and sitting on 8 figure net worths!

Never sold the properties I owned in Silicon valley that I bought in the 80s hands down.
