Buildings almost always use the cheapest of everything...including a $2 plastic vent boot instead of the $15 aluminum based vent boots that perform way better.

@Larry Fried,I am looking at the UK and South Africa at the moment, I am South African...But I have not lived there for 20 years :)I am open to all markets where i can get a good return on me investment, I am a bit concerned with the USA market as it is not easy to get a visa for myself, and it is a LONG way to travel.

@James Wise and @Nicholas Covington and @Larry Fried it may be true in your location, but I wouldn't make the blanket statement that insurance is more for non-owner occupied.

So we have one of those plastic extenders that we put on the end of the white pipe.

@Mark Fries I also have reached out to Valiant per your recommendation. 

@Jay Hinrichs casually mentions golden nuggets like placing an extra washer/dryer in your master closet, or painting your copper pipes white so they look like plastic to fool the thieves. 

If you don't like your electric bill, turn down the thermostat and put plastic on your windows!
