I personally prefer using the map tool in areas that I'm interested in, because searching by zip code is too broad, and when searching by subdivision, properties will sometimes pop-up right outside the border of the subdivision, and I don't want to miss those.In the search results you will typically see the results in green color on the map, these are the properties that are currently available for sale, and the yellow/orange listings are properties that have been already sold, or have a contract or option period on them.

Thank you Pavan for the response, currently building knowledge so I can develop a plan of action, been reading everything I can, just finished Rich Dad Poor Dad, been following real estate since Carlton Sheets,but actually taking action and moving forward is aa lot more intimidating than most make it seem, really scared of screwing it up right from the get go.

I've been spending more time taking notes about what I see when I go into the basement, as this helps me make an itemized list of construction issues I'll likely need to confront- IE exposed wires, moisture, pipes that don't connect, panels that aren't set up right.
