Each deal has an entrance, an execution, and an exit.  

Like we did with the rest of the house we spent serious money renovating and improving the addition,   with the intentions to rent it as a separate unit with separate entrance while we lived in the original 3/2 floor plan.Where the issues lies, the kitchen in the granny flat is unpermitted the lot is zoned for SFR, there is a handful of other unpermitted, not to current code or plan issues throughout the 60 y.o. house, mostly before the purchased the home. 

Also, there are completely separate utilities , entrance, and appliances but the upstairs thermostat does control the temperature for both units.

The side and rear entrances are not protected and it would be very dangerous if large icicles dropped from the roof, 3 stories up... and the floors are over 15' tall each.I plan to replace that ugly covered main entrance with 4 10' columns and a V roof using reclaimed slate tiles to match the buildings slate roof...

I have ordered a couple of flags for our front entrance.  

First floor will be completely open with Living, dining, Family room and kitchen with two separate french door entrances to porch.

In fact none of us have control over whom are neighbors are, good or bad.Lastly,  I personally would like an automated gate installed at the entrance of our road, thereby making the 3 of us a 'gated' community.Keep the posts coming.  

I have a condo and I always put up a sign near the front entrance, and I always get more calls than I can handle. 

For the entrance price of the bootcamp (even if you split it with someone) you can get better value trying to partner with someone locally.

The issue here, in particular, is that the building side entrance door is very fragile and easy to shoulder through into the dwelling at which point her now unlocked/broken bedroom can allow for anyone to steal her stuff.
