I have to get a permit to do that even though its rural area with nothing but farms around it.And the septic rules keep tightening up there worse and worse where its rendering some lots that were previously approved for a one or two bedroom septic to where they are literally unbuildable and useless because they won't allow any septic at all.

So the enemy method is the way to get a good idea.Check AirBNB and VRBO and see what similar properties are doing in the area.Also, Louisville recently tightened up the rules around STRs so check with the city and make sure you are good to go for a particular property.

I know these are basic rental type things but I with a full time job and young kids and my own primary home that needs a lot of attention it just all feels like a huge strain to do anything at all for the rentals.BUT, we have great interest rates on the mortgages, really good tenants, and the rentals won't always break even-- they will go up in value and in rent.
