No getting locked out, and you can change the code if you don't trust a recent move-out.The thing with latches is you have to make sure the strike is properly installed to engage the anti-jimmy plunger in the latch, that half-moon shaped piece behind the latch itself.

In the mean time you have an opportunity to rent to a tenant (potentially a long term one) that has been a homeowner, knows what owning real estate is like and doesn't have to be told all the various little things ("that is a clogged toilet. this is a plunger. are you aware you can put these two things together?")

Sink didn't drain because it needed plunger - which I used and in a min everything was working.They were afraid that since their hair clogged the sink, they will have to pay something.

You would think a plunger would clear lasagna clog--it's a water soluble product.If I left a plate of lasagna in a water filled sink for an hour it would probably be very soft.Maybe the $450 could have been solved by a renter with a plunger (???)

A simple toilet plunger is what we use first to try to clear a clogged sink (although sometimes one has to remove the p-trap under the sink to find the clog).

When I asked what was going on, she told me that the roommate had put the toilet plunger in the wrong place, so she had put the plunger on the bathroom counter next to the girls things (gross) , and the girl had put it back in the 'wrong' place again on purpose!?
