I’ve seen it over and over—people jump into real estate thinking success comes down to strategy, numbers, or knowing the right people.

Most people just buy individual properties. 

because I've seen a lot of people talk about money and how it brings happiness to them and how it's the only thing they need in life, I've talked too some people I know and most agree with that. 

is it practical and acceptable to do some sort of background checks on the new people? 

There are a lot of things that people believe is fact but are not.
