So, in my opinion, the time for this sort of due diligence would have been before you invested (rather than after).At this point if you visit and find a big problem, it's likely going to be like trying to close the barn doors after the cows have already all left.The one possible exception might be if it's a problem investment (which you didn't say it was)...and you are wanting to try to "shake up" management by visiting. 

They are not cheap, though, and I think you are better off building a unique cabin that has clear, equitable value while also being a cashflow cow.

Seems like a real cash cow if you get ahead of the ball. 

For example, the most important thing to digest is if the location is good, this is for exit strategies at the end of the day.

What I'm saying is, a cash cow for some, might be a very sharp tooth alligator for others.Just my 2 cents.
